Based on the evidence of which I am aware, I think Sasquatch probably are sentient. I agree that their elusiveness points to the likelyhood of them being very intelligent. It seems very likely to me that they engage in a language that would be considered by us to be at least a primitive one. There a numerous reports of their mumbling gargling sounds, whistles, and roars. I purchased the Sierra Sounds tape where a reporter recorded some very interesting communications. The tape is either a brilliant fraud or an example of creatures that use a language that at times sounds like a human's and other times like a chimp's and other times like nothing else I know of. Since the sounds they make are consistent with other reports and because they are so obviously communicating both to each other and to the humans they obviously want gone, I think it is likely to be bigfoot communication. I don't say that lightly. To me, to hear another species communicating is like hearing an alien civilization and it left me simply amazed. In an attempt to appear "open minded" on the issue, I should point out that I do have my doubts, and that noone has any idea what the subjects are saying or even if they are words or even if they are from sasquatch but like the Patterson film, I think the chance for a hoax is more unlikely than the chance that it is real. If these creatures represent Sasquatch and if they are communcating then an obvious conclusion is that they are sentient, and that bigfoot have remained consistently elusive because of their ability to communicate the dangers of humans to their existence.
