There is no handgun made that will reliably stop an animal the size of a BF, at least not that too many people could handle effectively.
A shotgun loaded with slugs and 00 buckshot would be a reasonable choice. Preferably, I think a "dangerous game" rifle like the type Alaskan guides carry would be more appropriate.
Don't forget: You have to be no farther than about fifteen feet for spray to work (if it even works on BF) if that animal was moving quickly at you they would be one you before one drop of the spray had a chance to work. If you want to wait until an animal like that is spitting distance away, then good luck.
