To be specific, Mr. "Anthropologist", races do not exist in humans. Scientifically, race is the same as a sub-species, and because there are no populations within homo sapiens that are so different from the rest that they are on their way toward becoming a seperate species, race doesnt exist. There is no population that has been isolated long enough for genetic change to take place. race is just a word used to differentiate peoples.
I just wanted to clarify, but your an "anthropologist" so you should already know.
As for differences in BF (and humans) a better word to use for the differences is polymorphism, which is a trait that shows variation within a species as a result of genetic variation. That is probably why BF seem to be slightly different in the PNW, EAST, etc..
