I was sorry to hear it too. He contributed much in terms of original thought, but his great talent was the ability to convey complex ideas in a way that made them accessable to those of us who are not quite so brilliant as was he. Our shared mortality is a sad fact of life but he, more than most, left a worthwhile legacy.
