Interesting point and questioning there Stacy, they oddly do not appear to be too concerned about their safety in regards to the night time human driver. My quickest notion would be to suggest that sometimes they just don't care what it takes to get where they need to be going, perhaps explaining the quick glances for proximity while maintaining a steady course and pace. And most drivers are not willing to pull over in the dark of night to investigate such a bewildering event, most would probably opt for the accelerator!... Isn't it funny how many animals anticipating a road crossing through traffic often hesitate, look and then change their minds, and yet still seem to go for broke as they attempt to dart across the road at the last second, only to possibly prevent themselves from becoming the lastest casualty of roadkill? Whereas the BF appear to be determined to cross the road no matter what, lack of hesitation increases one's odds of success eh? As long as the passing driver doesn't try to stop right away and present themselves as a possible threat, the overall safety issue is moot. That's all that I can think of right now, I'm sure that others may have some contributively feasible theories to share. Take it easy and talk to you all later.
