Investigating reports

Kisal is right. The BFRO will not post a report unless the witness is first contacted and interviewed.

Unfortunately, interviewing over the phone is not a foolproof way of determining the credibility, or even the sanity, of a witness. Still, it most cases it's the best that can be done - the BFRO doesn't have enough Investigators in enough places to be able to interview every witness in person. But, in those cases when a BFRO Investigator can, in person, investigate a site or interview a witness, a much more thorough job of verifying the report can be done. And if, during this on-site investigation, it's determined that the report may not be a valid one, then it's pulled.

If you're carrying a camera or a gun in plain sight, you're going to have to hope for an accidental encounter, where you come across a bigfoot that's unaware you're there. If a bigfoot sees you first, and sees that camera or gun, probably the best you can hope for is a territorial display of some sort, made from a location where the bigfoot is not visible to you.
