As why people even see them is an amazing fact at all. People are just darn lucky to catch one in their headlights or walking down a road at night. Fact is they really have nothing to fear!!! They probably know they can disappear quickly if anything disturbs them, and being at the head of their food chain makes them less afraid of man, and I'm sure that they are interested in lots of things they see going on by the hand of modern man.
