The latest spews...

I'm back from various outdoor activities and vacations, good to see that former Ft Lewis assignee Jeff F is inquiring about activity within the base boundaries. Nothing much new locally that I'm aware of, I'm talking reported Ft Lewis activity, but things are picking up sightings wise just west of Olympia along Hwy 8 as far as attempted crossings are concerned. This foraging / transitional route is one of the main links from the Cascade Range into the Olympic Range here in Washington State. I recently spent some time with "Trapper Dan" scouting out some areas within the Black Hills / Capitol Forest region, and have found that the "powers that be" are digging a natural gas pipeline straight through the forest and hills eastward from Aberdeen to Tumwater, not that they could've already used the cleared powerline corridor to accomodate this apparent civilized necessity!... But it seems that the timber sales will make up for being the lowest bidder, we're talking a swath that is 50yds wide and 40 miles long! The various edible berries and foliage are nearing their peak production before the end of the summer dryout, it appears that vocalizations are down significantly since figuring out that we have listening devices to record their daily meanderings. I guess that it is good policy to adjust one's daily regimen from being tracked by other species, since one's longevital survival depends on it!... Enough for now, take it easy and talk to you all later.
