It is logical to presume that Sasquatch have been mistaken for a variety of other animals or features, then dismissed as a bear, shadow or just another burnt stump! Without good binoculars, the possibility of mis-identification of any spiecies under some circumstances and weather conditions is always present.
Sasquatch appear to take advantage of light and shadow or foilage to maintain concealability. I am of the opinion that a person could be looking right at one, and not see it unless it moved, like so many other animals that seem to "magically" appear out of nowhere! The grouse is a good example.
