School Days

Autumn is arriving and my little one's off to preschool again.  Next year is kindergarten and a full day of school.  I've been trying to be a good mommy and fix interesting, nutritional snacks to send to school.

Between that and going to the gym and trying to pack away all the summer stuff, I've been kind of busy and haven't devoted nearly as much time here as I usually do.

I'd like to take just a moment to apologize to everyone for that.  And, I hope that all of you will find yourselves in the same position in a few years!

Sooo, what did you come up with?

Would love to have fresh ideas for interesting nutritional snacks - my 3yo is getting more and more picky - and I'm getting tired of cheese sticks and crackers! Lately I've tried bringing along a yogurt but I hate to think of wasting it if she's not in the mood. Fruit I can never predict if she'll go for or not. She won't eat granola or whole grain cookie bars. I think she would live on Cheerios if I would let her! Help!

Snacks

I've been making interesting sandwiches using wraps, and those little "cocktail" loaves of bread.  Also been sending finger sized veggies and small fruits.  Little salads of chopped veggies in those tiny plastic containers.  And of course, I've had her making her own trail mix (without nuts--she's in a nut-free school).  She gets a kick out of "cooking" her own stuff.  Fortunately the school came down this year with a ruling of "no sweets".
