Had the first U/S today and question

So we are on the launching pad - had bloodwork and first U/S today, should start estrace tomorrow. Local doc said everything looked fine. But she said that there was a follicle on the right side. It didn't occur to me to ask at the time (my mind always goes kind of blank in the doc's office) why I would even have a follicle since I haven't had a period since I began the cycle for DD#2 back in 2008? Is this anything to get in my way? After dragging my feet all summer now that I am jumping in I want it all to go smooth and fast to the finish!

Thanks ladies for all your support earlier in the summer. Now, I can't even remember how conflicted I felt back then. This is just so clearly the right decision for us now, no matter how it turns out. Full steam ahead!

Don't think it's a problem, but....

...just wait to hear from your RE.  As I remember, my last time I also had a follicle and they weren't worried or impressed.

Hey Boosmom....m

September 15 2010, 4:19 PM

I just wanted to tell you that I'm sending positive thoughts your way...I'm glad that you are really ready to move forward...this is a good thing.

As far as the follicle goes...I really don't know...in my case I'm doing a natural FET, I didn't do a Depo Lupron shot to shut down my ovaries (and I've had 2 menses since I weaned DS) but my clinic says that the high dose of estrace that I'm on will supporess ovulation so they aren't worried if I develope follicles and I'm sure I will...it will just provide my own estrogen (growing my own eggs) in addition to the estrace is my thought.

I have heard that cysts on the ovaries can cause problmes though as they effect our hormones in a negative way.

Your Dr. will get the u/s results though and let you know if there are any problems...we are really close.

I'm on Day 7 of estrace and my Fragmin (which is a replacement to heparin)...also taking a baby aspirin and a host of supplements to keep me healthy.

I had my first estradiol blood test today...next week I'll have an u/s and another blood test to ensure my lining is ready and then if good to go I will have to start my prometrium...no PIO since it's a natural FET (YES) because the Fragmin injection is already making my tummy all bruised.

So we are close. Are you going for acupuncture?...I have my first appt in ages with my old TCM Dr. I'm looking forward to seeing her again as we had quite a relationship going 2 years ago.

BTW...have you thought very much about how you will manage after the FET...do you have any help...that sort of thing? I just responded to a post about resting after a FET on the yellow board and it got me thinking about how I will manage after...I'm planning to get the house in ship shape before we leave for the clinic....and hopefully some meals in the freezer as our life is quite busy this time of year and anything that will allow me a bit more relaxation time the better.

This is a busy time in our garden as well...but I'm going to have to trust that DH can handle it...as I hope to grow another baby and he can put the garden to rest for the season.

Well...good luck...I don't know how much I'll be on the board in the next week but I'll be sending lots of good thoughts your way.

Blessings from Hope

Boos, I don't have an answer but wanted to cheer you on!!

Hope, I wonder the same thing. First, my RE still hasn't called me back so I'm wondering if he'll refuse to do my FET (I contacted them 9/7 and again 9/10). However, I'm alone here and worry about lifting our LO after the transfer...

I usually have a few follies, too

follicles don't even have to have eggs. They can be empty. But your dr does want to know if you have an active cyst, so they have to check.
