We too are staying at the HIFS in January and will not have a car. I called the hotel to inquire about the schedule. The shuttles run very frequently to and from the parks. You must pick up complimentary passes to ride the shuttles. They also provide transportation to Universal and shopping outlets for a fee. This is the telephone number 1-877-387-5437, ask to be transferred to Guest Services. I called from Canada so I don't know if this number is valid from UK.
