About the question - it depends on what you want out of your vacation - if you'll be spending alllll you time at the parks then the room won't matter as much.
If you plan on spending time enjoying your resort - it may be worth the extra for the perks of a deluxe. We just got back from the Poly and believe me there is nothing like getting up in the morning and walking onto the monorail or hopping on the report monorail late at night passing everyone by that has to walk to the busses. I don't mean that in a bad way - but its a relief to know you're almost to your room! Of course this only applies to MK & Epcot, but its fun to be on the monorail!
