going to only ONE of the 4 Disney themeparks, which would it be? I just found out today that my best friend is getting married next October in Florida. We thought we'd make it into a big vacation and spend a day in Disney as well. Now is the big decision.......which park do I go to? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! We also plan on going to Islands of Adventure one day.

Then I would say MGM.

by Kelly

Because they have rides for you. The fantasmic show is great, the newest ride Rockin Roller Coaster with the Aero Smith Music I have heard is cool, Tower of Terror, the Great Movie Ride, Backstage tour, Star tours, Muppet 4D. I hope this helps you out. I love the Magic Kingdom too, but when you have kids someday....then you will definitely will want to go there for the magic.

by

Epcot if i was more into science and knowing how things work and site seeing. If i liked rides more I would pick magic kingdom. If i like the whole holywood scence and really fast rides I would pick MGM and if animals were my thing that i loved most i would pick animal kingdom. You might want to consider two parks because I think you would be able to make it through two in one day.

I would choose... 2 for 1

by

Why dont you go to MGM in the morning and EPCOT in the day/evening. These are my two favorite parks and that's why we always stay at the Boardwalk. They are connected by river and you can take boat/bus from one to another. But you can do the Tower of Terror, Aerosmith rollercaoster, hit a few shows all in the mroning and then run over to EPCOT. I like the evenings at EPCOT. Eat at one of the many nice restaurants in the World Showcase, even though I love the Brown Derby at MGM. MGM and EPCOT have the best two show's with Illuminations and Fantasmic which are both put on at close of business. My opinion, good luck with your decision. It's a tough one!

2 parks, but try to go to the not so scary mickey halloween

by

Try to see if they are going to have the mickey halloween party in the evening one night at Magic Kingdom and then go to Epcot for the day. This way you can see Epcot and eat dinner there (which in my opinion has better restaurants) then go to the Magic Kingdom for the Halloween party (i heard a lot of people even get dress up) A friend is going this Oct. Keep in touch and I'll let you know how it was.

They are still available at the Magic Kingdom.

During the mornings and afternoons the MK has a booth set up where they sell the bricks and t-shirts. You can find this booth outside of the MK near the area where you get on and off the boat to the parking lot.

Brick Phone Number

by

Call 407-934-2990...this is the current Walk around the World phone number.
When I purchased my brick in 1998, the cost was $110.00. The price seems to go up $5.00 a year, but might have topped out at the $110.00 price. If you are planning on a WDW vacation in the near future and want your brick installed by the time you arrive, give the ordering dept. 3 months to process the order. FYI the high price of the brick does not guarantee that your brick will be forever in it's place. If for some reason your brick is removed within the first 10 years, you are entitled to a full refund. Thereafter, good- bye money. Also, if your brick has to be relocated, you will receive a notice of your brick's new home. All in all, it is a very nice way to be part of WDW. It's really a great feeling to search for your brick while all the other guests are wishing that they had purchased one...we even had a family of 5 help us locate ours. (A 5 year old girl found it first.)

Accomodations and a very merry mickey christmas

by

Thanks to all the feedback I was given on where to stay. I decided on going to the Coranado Springs Hotel the week before Christmas. But now I am having second thoughts. I definitely want to stay at one of the moderate resorts due to the cost factor, but I have read feedback that the service at the Coranado is poor and it does not get "into the christmas spirit" as much as the other moderate resorts. I would love any additional comments b/c I can still change my reservation. Also I am planning on getting tickets to a very merry mickey christmas. Has anyone ever done it and is it worth it?

Very Merry Mickey Christmas

Our family went to the Very Merry Mickey Christmas 2 years ago and we were very disappointed. It was crowded, the picture they took of us was poor, and the extra shows were hard to get near. The only real plus was the fire works. It was very good.

MVMCP- Great time!!

by

Hi Lauren,

We went several years ago and had great time!!!! The lines weren't too long, and the shows (parades) were great!! The Kingdom is set in a very festive atmosphere, and everyone was having a great time. They serve free hot chocolate and cookies!! The family photo, although not portrait quality, was a good shot. I believe you can order additional photos of your picture! It even snows on Main Street. The fireworks were indeed incredible. The encompassed the entire Kingdom.

We're going back this year and looking forward to it!!! Only 10 short weeks!!!!

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions!!

Hello Lauren,
We went a couple of years ago too. We liked it so much that this year we are going back, this time we are taking the rest of the family. We are going on the 15th Dec 2000. Yes, it might be a bit crowded, but worth it for the atmosphere and to see it snow on Main Street. The Christmas Parade was great, most important was that the kids had a great time. Our photo turned out really well. I only hope this year will be as good as 1998!

I recommend you go to www.tug2.net. This is the Timeshare Users' Group website, and they have a whole section devoted to resort promotional offers (and yes, you have to sit through a 90-minute presentation -- but the prices are hard to beat!!!) The site also has a section on timeshare owners trying to rent their (usually 2- or 3-bedroom) units.

Lots for kids to do!

by Nancy

I don't have kids myself, but there are two designated areas in the Magic Kingdom for young children. One is in Fantasyland. There's lots of rides for young children there (i.e. Dumbo). There's also Mickey's Toontown near Tomorrowland. You get to go through Mickey's house and even get to meet him! Lots of small rides are here too. I'm not sure on specific rides, but I saw lots of young children smiling and laughing. Be sure to take the kids to Country Bear Jamboree when you're there. Lots of fun!

Rides for small kids

by Brooke

We went with our 4 year old son back in June and believe me theres no problem finding rides for them to go on. In Magic Kingdom my son loved Buzz Lightyears Space Ranger Spin(his favorite char.),The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh,Mad Tea Party and Mickeys Toontown Fair (to name only a few). Animal Kingdom was great-they have a huge playground called The Boneyard where you can climb, slide, dig for fossils! The Kilimanjaro Safari ride is a must and if your kids arent afraid of bugs Its Tough To Be A Bug is excellant. At MGM we saw Muppets 3-D,Bear in the Big Blue House and Honey I Shrunk the Kids PLayground. Finally Epcot has Spaceship Earth,Universe of Energy,Wonders of Life,The Living Seas, The Land and all the differnt attrations in each country. I think you will find thats the only problem is theres too much to do and never enough time. My son loved our disney vacation and asks all the time when were going again.

There is tonsss of stuff for little kids..I don't have any but

by

I know that most of the rides i went on little kids would have no problem on. When you get to the park just check the guide map out and it will list all the rides and have codes to give you an idea of what they are like. Also take a peak at the lines and see if there are kids around the same age as yours waiting. There is also a thing called baby swap were one parent rides with the one child when the other is watching the youngest child and then they switch. This way both adults can ride with out waiting in line twice. You might want to look into that because i'm sure there will be things that the eight year old will like that the 3 yearold won't.

Imagination Ride - Now and Then

by Chris

I was wondering what everyone thinks of the new Imagination Ride in Epcot? How do you think it compares to the old one? I'm definitely partial to the old ride. It was kooky and maybe even silly, but the song was contagious and the Dreamfinder and Figment were so much fun. I can appreciate what Disney is trying to achieve with the 2nd ride, but I think it could be done a little better. What are your thoughts?

I did not hate the new ride

by

There is no way that the new ride is anywhere close to being as good as the old one. I found myself saying on the way out, "If I had never rode this ride before, I might have enjoyed it more." I enjoyed the Dreamfinder and Figment. The first time I rode it I said to my wife that I found the song to be enjoyable and it was no where as annoying as the Small World song. This subject came up once before and I think the majority said that they did not feel there was an improvement to the ride.

I know they aren't cheap at the park. I can't remember the price I think they might have been around 15 for adult and 8 for children but i could be wrong. If you are at a moderate i think they have them set out on the table and you can just grap one and go and they bill your room (i'm not sure about vaule..i know deluxe doesn't have them out). Those are a good thing to bring with you...we alway get caught in the rain at least once...even if it doesn't rain it helps you stay a little drier on the water rides

Mickey Ponchos

by Karen

The Mickey poncho is the best value you'll find at DW. I think they were $4 for kids and $5 for adults. Once you're home, the poncho is handy to stuff into a Baggie and then drop into your kid's backpack in case it ends up raining at school. You just don't want to lose your child while at DW. Very hard to find in that "sea 'o yellow" ponchos!! Everyone runs to buy those ponchos at the DW shops whenever it rains, so it might be a good idea to buy one before you need it if it looks like it might rain.

Just got from Disney on Saturday.....Trip Report!

by

Hello!

If crowds is your concern (rather than heat), try to go to Disney the week after labour day weekend. My husband and I had the best trip ever because of lack of crowds. We practically walked on all of the rides in all 4 themeparks! In fact, our longest wait was 20 minutes long! For those of you who are Disney veterans, it's amazing to think that we walked on Space Mountain in the middle of a hot afternoon!! We rarely had to use Fast Pass because the lines were so short. What a wonderful trip!

There's always a big debate on whether you should stay on Disney property or off property. Well, for this trip, we stayed off property for $32 a night. It was worth it. We had a continental breakfast at the motel and we rented a car (only 10 minutes away from WDW). It's fun to stay on property, but if money is a factor (we're Canadian so the exchange rate was a big worry), staying off site can be fun too. We got to explore restaurants outside Disney which are generally cheaper anyway.

If anyone has any questions, don't hesitate to ask. I can "talk Disney" all the time!!

What hotel did you use

Trip sounds great, can you recommend the hotel? Which one was it? Did they do family suites?

Our motel

by Chris

It was the Knights Inn Maingate East. Keep in mind there is a Knights Inn slightly closer to WDW, but is older and slightly more expensive. The one we stayed in is on Poinciana Blvd. There's only one floor in this motel. I am not sure about family suites, but since the motel is so small, I doubt they have very different rooms from each other. I forgot to say that our room had a fridge, King size bed and stove in it as well. The room size was larger than the All-Star Resort rooms for sure. Hope this helps!

Angels Restaurant!

by Chris

Hi! On 192 immediately outside WDW, there's a restaurant called Angels. It's in a Holiday Inn. There are billboards on 192 advertizing it. It's a 50's diner type place with a great ambiance and fun decorations. The milkshakes are amazing! For a more expensive meal, there's a lobster buffet in behind this diner, still in the Holiday Inn. This buffet has non-seafood too. We didn't eat there, but it looked good!

Don't forget Olive Garden and mile marker 15. The meals are reasonable which include salad and garlic bread. Try the black tie mousse cake!

Medevil Times was great

by

On 192 you can have dinner and watch the knights joust on horseback. I took my son there on his fourth birthday earlier this year and he had a great time. The food was wonderful. There is no silverware allowed so the kids can make you eat your food with your hands. When they filmed the Cable Guy, this is where they filmed the jousting scene. If your kids can stay up for the late show, go to that one. The knight will be available for pictures afterward, unlike the first show. Have a wonderful Time.

Places to eat!

by Joy

The Las Vegas Buffet was very good. It had a variety of foods from different countries. Sonny's is a chicken and rib place that is inexpensive and has great food. JT's Prime Time is an all you can eat Prime Rib place that has great food and inexpensive Kid's meals.

We had bad luck at Golden China and Western Sizzler.

All of these places are right on US 192 near Disney.

Don't miss..

by Julie

The Golden Corral. It's perfect for families, informal, plenty of choice for even the fussiest eaters and you can eat till you collapse. Also worth a mention is the Ponderosa, not as big a choice on the buffet but lovely entrees.

Tip for first time disney go E-NIGHT

by

I haven't seen it mentioned on here in awhile so I will bring it up! We went in May and the parks were pretty busy so we used E-Night. It is when ten rides at the magic kingdom stay opened three hours later then the rest of the park.

It is limited to 5000 disney resort guest. What you do it go to guest service and get an e-night ticket then you go to certain place in the magic kingdom and get a braclet (city hall is one of the places) i think up to four hours before e-night starts.

We loved it there was hardly a line and we went on buzz light years space year spin 5 times, splash mountain twice, space mountain once (because i hated it), country bear jam once, big thunder mountain three times, haunted masion three times, exterr. alien once, and a few others i can't remember.

It is ten per adult and I think eight per child but well worth it. You can avoid these busy rides during the day and just go on them at night!

Agree

by Sue

Went to an E-Ride night and it was one of the best ever. Daughter went on Space Mountain 6 times in a row. I gave up at 3. Also the characters are much more fun and have time to respond to the guests. We particularly remember Tigger.

Nov Dec E nights

by

I called the WDW info number just yesterday to find out about Dec E-nights.....I was told to call back no sooner than mid November and to keep in mind that since this is the off season, it may not be offered.. BUT, I've also been told that the official Disney web site will post E-nights one month in advance and that "nothing is impossible"...here's hoping for November and December!

My husband and I will be there from Nov 29 until Dec 13. Since we are going to be there so long, we are "cheaping out" and staying at All-Star Sports. But since we've never stayed on the grounds before, I'm just as excited as if I were staying somewhere fancier. I can't wait to get there!!!

You Are going to love The All-Star

by

You are going to have a great time and actually I will be at WDW from Nov 29-Dec 15. The All Star Sports Resort is great...I have stayed at basically all the resorts including The Grand Floridian and felt that The All Star gave you the best deal for your money. If I wasn't a member of Disney's Vacation Club I would definately stay there. Trust me you are not "cheaping out" you are going 1st class.."Your staying on property". Enjoy!

by

Thanks for the words of encouragement! We are really excited about the trip and the opportunity to stay on the property for our first time. I know we will have a ball. We do every time we head to WDW! But I have always wanted to stay at one of the on-site resorts, and now I get to! I have a "count down" calendar at work. It is an outline of Mickey's head. Every day, in the center of the outline, I write down the number of days till we leave! We are FINALLY down to double digits - 64!!!

I can't wait!!!!!

by Shannon G

I have 63 days (not counting today of course) until I leave. I also have a count down on my calendar at work. I go every year and I never get bored of it. Disney World is a great place young or old..I'm 25yrs old now and I can't get enough. Once you stay on property you will never again want to stay off!! If you should have any questions what so ever just ask I would be glad to help.

Shannon, I do have a question for you...

by

Shannon, this may sound like an odd question, but how are the pillows at the All Star Sports? My hubby and I spent this past Saturday out of town and although the hotel was ok, the pillows were the pits!!! Between the air conditioning kicking on and off every couple of minutes, the very small, very thin pillow was enough to keep us both up most of the night! Thank goodness we were only spending one night! We are thinking of taking our own big fat fluffy pillows to Florida with us (we are driving, obviously). What can you tell me about the pillows??? Thanks, Donna

Last minute Disney info needed...........leaving on the 16th!

by

Does Disney still offer the bounce back pass and does anyone know the current pricing on these? We do have the MKC card so would like to know the discounted price. Also, would like to rent the speedboats. Rented them in the past at the Poly. Do they offer the rentals elsewhere and does anyone know the current rental fee for them?
We are also interested in attending the HOOP-DE-DOO since we have heard so many people comment on it. What is the current prices for these tickets and where do we go for advance reservations? Does anyone know the crowd situation the first week in June vs. the first week in August. Will probably be returning next year since we have decided the annual passes are our best buy. Thanks for all of the input.....it has helped us in planning this trip!

If you are leaving on the 16th you better call now WDW dinning reservations at 407-WDW-DINE. The tickets go pretty fast and people can make ressies up to 2 years but you should have a chance on getting a cancellation!

I know mouse boats can be rented as a flex feature..

by

I'm not sure about speed boats. I knwo you can rent boats at fort wilderness, right out side the lodge (take boat from magic kingdom i think is the best way to get there), on the boardwalk, at the poly and I think at the carribean. Rumor has it the the fastest ones are at fort wilderness because they have the most open space.

mickeys halloween party

by

Yes, the Car. Beach does have ironing boards and an iron but I think you have to ask for it when you check in.
When you come off of the monorail there are a lot of people handing out goodie bags to the kids. Some of the candy is cheap but at some of the sites there was some good candy. We bypassed a lot of the long lines to get the candy and only got some if the line happened to be short on the way to another ride. The parade is really cute and my kids loved it.
