bus schedule for late night return to resort

How late do busses operate at night, say for example from Downtown Disney back to All Star?

Buses

by

Buses run up to an hour after everything closes - whatever time that happens to be at the specific location.

There are usually plenty of buses for AllStars since its a larger resort area. You shouldn't have to wait long.

About Stores

by Kelly

The closest store but not cheapest is Goodings Store on 192. They are expensive for most items. Like pop is 4.99 a 12 pack. Cereal is 4.00 - 5.00 a box, etc. I hope this helps. There is a K-Mart that we used for items more reasonable like more film, sunscreen. That is at the first disney exit off of I-4. I'm sorry I can't help with the entrance from the airport, except that their are several signs directing you where to go. The one we use when we drive is the MGM exit. It is the closest to the All Star Resorts. Sorry this is so lengthy.

Take the extra time to go to a different Grocery store.

Go to the Super Wal-mart on 192 in Kissimmee. It will take you about 20 minutes to get there from WDW, but it is much cheaper.

Publix

Keith,

Have you ever tried Publix across from Celebration? (On the corner of 192 and S. International, behind Logans & Bennigans) It is much closer and has reasonable pricing compared to Goodings. The check-out lines aren't as long, also.

by

Take busses to some mono rails to others. When you get to the all star you will get a transpertation map that tells you want will take you where. For fort wilderness i would recommend the boat ride from magic kingdom. For the boardwalk, yatch and beach, and swan and dolphin the boat from mgm would be the best i think, for contempory, poly, and grand floridian the mono rail would be good. For the rest i think you have to use a buss.

I agree with Val - monorail around the ones you can and either boat around the Epcot resorts or walk around Crecent Lake. You can also take a boat from DD to PO & DxL

If you are traveling where you have to change buses...

by

If you have to go to Downtown Disney to get to your desired resort, DO NOT USE THE BUSES. I have talked to so many guest that spend 60 to 90 minutes trying to get from the Caribean Beach, Boardwalk, or All Star Resorts to the Grand Floridian. This has caused numberous problems for guests. I always recommend using your own car or taking a taxi.

Space Shuttle

Whilsy we are on holiday at Disneys Caribbean Beach resort in September there is scheduled a space shuttle launch at 8:45 am.
Is a good view available from any where within Disney World or is it best to travel to KSC. If travel is best, does anyone know where best to head for and what time we will need to set off.
Any help gratefully received.

Went four years ago and decided to go to KSC to see a launch at 1.00pm. There were crowds more people than we expected with big tailbacks of cars on all roads leading to KSC. If you get there be prepared for a long wait to get out of the area.

Ice for water bottles

by

My family and I drink TONS of water so we are planning to bring our own water bottles to the parks (filled with as much ice as will fit as well as water). I know we can get more water at any drinking fountain....has anyone ever tried getting ice from any place? I think maybe the restaurants would do it, but is there anywhere else to get ice? Gotta love that icy cold water!

we turned it up all the way with our almost filled all the way water bottles. It froze the water in the bottle and then we just added a tad of water and took it to the park. We either carryed them in a disney bag or in one of those little water holders you can buy. IT is alot easier then trying to get ice in the bottle and it melts at about the rate you want to drink anyway. :-)

I would pack a little bit of everything. It's warm in the day and you will need a jacket at night. For most days I would say shorts are fine but it wouldn't hurt to have pants just in case. As for swimming it's your own opinion. I don't but then again I only swim when it is in the 80's. Have a great trip!

There are lot of trees and it really isn't that close to epcot.
We took a mears shuttle bus to the resort from the airport. The ride to the resort was good, but to the airport from the resort they were 20 minutes late which worried us.

Millineum Celebration

by

The Tapestry of Nations parage happens twice each night at Epcot - a great place to watch it is at Rose & Crown outide waiting area (in UK pavilion) We got there around 7:15 pm and drank a beer while we waited - the parade came out right there at 8pm and we then watched the Illuminations show from the patio as well.

We took Tiffany Towncar form the airport and were extremely pleased with the service. I've also read on the boards where Happy Limo is good. We prefer the direct sevice, but have used Mears in the past and it was fine too.

Happy Anniversary!

Fireworks from CB

by

We saw the fireworks from the second floor of building 36 I think at Trinidad N. I hope I spelled that right. Anyway, it was beautiful and we would come back to our room everynight and sit on the steps to watch. My 4 year old loved it! I hope this helps. When you check into CB ask the CM if you can have that building. It is great! Short walk to bus stop and it wasn't a bad walk to the food court and main pool. Have a great time. We will be there the same time you are but staying at the Wilderness Lodge. We leave in 3 days! Email me if you have further questions about CB.

I had no idea you could see the fireworks from there - cool! I guess its like anything else at Disney - its a matter of being in the right place. When I stayed at CBR, years ago, we couldn't see anything from our room or building, but I have no idea where we stayed (back in 1991)

Oh well! Always learn something new!

Fireworks

by Loretta

You most definitely CAN see the fireworks at the Caribbean Beach Resort. I've done it many, many times.

Besides the recommendation that someone has already made regarding room location, you can see the fireworks near Old Port Royale. The fireworks can be seen from anywhere outside OPR along the water. One of my favorite spots is at the end of the building, just near Martinique.

On nights when we don't stay in the park til closing, we have a late evening snack (usually a treat from the bakery) while watching the show. If the wind is blowing in the right direction, you can even hear the music.

Enjoy!!!!

Hi Alison
My family and I went to Disney this April(the 3-12 actually) and we stayed at the CBR. WE read all kind of horror stories on here about the crowds, but we were not able to change our dates , so we went anyway. We had not one complaint. Everything was great, it was not too crowded and the weather was already getting a little too hot for us. I'm not going to tell you that the lines were nonexisting, but if you take advantage of the Fast Pass you won't have any trouble. Our longest wait was probably 15-20 minutes. I would have hated to wait in any line with the weather any hotter which I am sure it will be the end of May. I myself think the first part of April would be your better bet , but as with anything in life, you'll will get many opinions. Whenever you go, have fun. The motel is great. Tey and request Martinique, it's close to everything(especialy if you have kids going)

Reflections of Earth

by

The show this year is different from years in the past. They don't have the lighting around the World Showcase or spotlight the nations, instead a GIGANTIC globe floats out and there is a laser light show on the globe as it turns. Its very interesting and the music is wonderful.

I think the crowds just depend on when you go - it should be dying down some as summer closes. We watched it from the outside patio waiting area at R&C - had a great seat for both ToN parade - which is great - and Illuminations: Reflections of Earth.

There isn't anything scary - the puppets in the parade may be a little intimidation to a small child, but most children we saw loved it.

No pets are allowed anywhere on property w/ the exception of companion type dogs.

There are kennels at the parks and certain requirements and I think Ft Wilderness may have a few camp sites that allow animals, but I'm not definite on that.

It would be a long walk!

by

Maybe not a drastic walk, but it would be a pretty good distance and the traffic there is very heavy.

Goodings is across the street in a shopping type area/complex/stripmall thingy. If you are coming from I-4 it would be before you get to DD and the DD hotels. There are several restaurants in the area w/ the Goodings.

From what I have gathered its fairly expensive, if you're driving - I remember there was a grocery (Goodings, I think) off of Sand Lake Road - a few miles before your get to Disney - close to Universal

I just found a great web site. It lets you know what the weather will be like even months in advance! I don't really know how accurate it is, but at least it gives us planners that have everything mapped out so far ahead an idea of what the weather COULD be like! It is www.weatherplanner.com

General Averages

over history is where most of the info comes from. I started checking it around 9/99 for our May 2000 trip - found the site thru Yahoo - anyway, it was about as accurate as any normal forcast. It predicted the weather exactly as it turned out - clear and hot!

These are weather norms for the most part, but it was nice to have an idea ahead of time of a general idea of what to expect - especially since we had an outdoor Disney wedding!

Cinderella's Royal Table

by Cat

I understand that Cinderella's Royal Table is on the second floor of of castle. Do you have to walk thru the Cinderella story to get to it? We are going for the first time to WDW. The castle at Disneyland has the story thru out. It scares my daughter and she will not walk thru it. I would love to take her to Cinderella's Royal Table but if she has to go past the story, we will never make it to the table! I really would rather not get up at 4 am to make the reservations if we will never get to keep them.

Thanks for any info.

the main hallway thru the castle is decorated by a beautifully done mozaic along the walls depicting the fairy tale. I can't remember if its scarr or not though - at least there weren't any dragons or beasts in the story that I can remember.

if its too dark or your daughter gets leery of it you can always walk around either side to by pass it and enter thru the back of the main hall (I'm pretty sure that's where the restaurant is)

by

Any holiday is crowded at Disney. Most schools are back in by this time, but people will travel given the 4 day weekend - especially Florida residents.

Most of the web pages give good indicators of crowd levels based on past experience and the room rates are also an indicator - Value, Regular, Peak - etc...

But it should definitely be more crowded than the rest of the month.

Thank you very much for the information on the strollers. It helped me very much. I think I will take my own stroller, the stroller's in the magic kindgom look like they are twenty years old. The ones in the other parks are alot nicer, but I know we will be in the magic kindgom alot. The site said they were expecting a new shipment of strollers ,hope they get there before we do! Thanks again!

Strollers

by Kelly

The Magic Kingdom did have some of the newer strollers at Easter time, but being that it was so crowded they pulled out the old blue ones. However, I always take my own anyways just because of park hopping and downtown Disney. That way I have it when I need it and I'm not spending a small fortune on rentals. Just a thought.

I agree its so much more convienient to take your own, as the kids get older and donot require them so much, renting is probably the best option.
i have soon to be 2yo twins so will be taking our double in Nov, our 5yo walks all the time now but he may need a stroller if we have long days in the parks, thats when rentals come into their own i think.

We will be staying at Port Orleans but have reservations at Chef Mickey's for a character Breakfast...if we take disney transportation will we make it in time for breakfast? Or should we call a cab...do you know what that might cost...I've heard a few bucks...does that sound right?

No problem...Give yourself at least 50 mins to an hour from DXL...it is an enjoyable ride and you will love riding into the Contemporary on the Monorail!!!!!

MVMCP Tickets/Refunds?

by

I'm starting to see posts about the MVMCP. We're "planning" on going to WDW Dec. 2-9. So far the only thing booked is the room. I'd like to get the tickets for the MVMCP now so I have them. If it turns out that we can't go in December, does anyone know if you can get a refund? (I shudder to even think that we might not be able to go :( :( :( )

thanks!!

Sorry, you cannot get a refund.

On the back of my ticket it clearly states "NONREFUNDABLE"

NO REFUNDS

by Anonymous

Disney will not give any refunds on these tickets but I know that the party sells out very quickly. We went for Mickeys Halloween party and it was sold out we found someone in our hotel with extra tickets and he sold them to us this was lucky so good luck.
