E-ride

by

I know all about the e-ride tickets and know that they are for resort guests only. I read in a book that the Disney Resort Hotels in Downtown Disney also qualify to get guest these tickets. I am wondering if the Disney Good Neighbor Hotels offer the tickets as well?

Epcot Flower Power 2002?

by

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has heard if they will be,as usual, having the 60's and 70's perfomances at the the Epcot Flower and Garden Show. The shows by Peter Noone from Herman Hermits, and The Turtles and Davy Jones and The Buckinghams! I was really wondering about this! Or if you have an email address for someone or people to contact about getting it booked or if it is happening. If you have any information, please EMAIL me at DrummrGirlKatie@aol.com or ForeverFallon27@yahoo.com ! I would GREATLY appreciate it! Thank you SO much!

Disneyland In Afghanistan to Open 2002

by

The following was written in all good fun and as a joke and is meant to offend no one. I apologize in advance to anyone offended by the following. Walt Disney, Inc. and anyone and everyone associated with Disney had nothing to do with the authoring of the following. The following was written to try and get a little laugh out of everyone during this very difficult time.

DISNEY ANNOUNCES AFGHANISTAN PARK:

Disneyland-Kabul will open to the public by the Summer of 2002. The park will combine all the magic that is Disney with the hostility of Afghanistan to create a Disney park that only the ultra-Islamic crowd could love. The park will be divided into five main lands: Main Street-Kabul, Fantasyland, Jihad Square, Al Qaeda Island, and OsamaTown. Many rides and attractions have already been designed including:

MAIN STREET, KABUL:

* As you walk into the park the first place you encounter will be Main Street. This area of the park combines both shops and attractions. You will find many specialty shops like: Guns-R-Us, Blow-U-Up, Missile Junction, Box-Cutters Etcetera, and many more. The tents are reminiscent of a Kabul dirt-street marketplace. Here you will feel as if you were outside the park in any actual Kabul street marketplace only that the prices are much higher because it's a Disney park;

*Disney's UN Coalition Parade: UN coalitions roll armor down the middle of the street and ask spectators and shop keepers if they've seen bin Laden. (Dates and Times subject to change depending on the weather and whether the U.S. and U.N. let the North Alliance do all the work for them).

THE HUB:

*As you come to the end of Main Street you will approach "the Hub" or the center part of the park from which you can reach any and all the other lands. Here you will find a beautiful life-size bronze statue depicting Osama bin Laden standing hand-in-hand with his friend and protector, Mullah Mohammed Omar. This central statue, titled "Marters" is the perfect image of Osama and Omar, without whose joint-venture there would be no Taliban;

*Public Executions: Here at the hub you may experience public executions three times a day. Usually, women and children but, if you are lucky you may catch one of a public official or media personality. (Please refer to your map for dates and times. A small fee applies if you would like front row seats. Please go to guests services upon entering the park for seat reservations);

IN JIHAD-SQUARE:

*Crash-Tours: Combining the technologies used for such Disney rides as "Star Tours" and "Soaring Over California", this ride is basically a flight simulator that teaches you how to fly and crash both a 747 & 757 passenger jets;

*Shooting Gallery: This Disney classic, usually found in Frontierland, will be upgraded to A.K.-47s and should be fun for the whole Afghani family as you take aim at Bush dummies, American prisoners, and women who break the Islamic law. (This attraction may not be included with the admission ticket price);

*Instant Marter: This attraction consists of building your own bomb from House-hold chemicals & cleaners usually found around your house. Then you strap it on, run into a crowded street and enjoy the ride. (This attraction can only be experienced during the last hour of a normal business day in order to give you the opportunity to first enjoy all other rides and attractions in the park beforehand);

*The Haunted Mud Shack: Like it's Predecessor, "The Haunted Mansion," this place is also haunted but unlike it's predecessor this one's haunted by only one ghost, without room for "one more," to make room for the one-rider at a time crowd;

IN AL QAEDA ISLAND:

*Al Qaeda Island: This area of the park, an island in Rivers of Arabia taking shape from it's predecessor "Tom Sawyer Island," will be home to a series of "Injun Joe" type caves. But be careful, Osama may be hiding in one of them;

*Fort Taliban: This fort, armed with fully loaded AK 47s and Grenade-Launchers was designed in honor of those who fell during the Soviet-Afghani War;

IN FANTASYLAND:

*Aladdin's Revenge: This ride takes you through the story of Aladdin and his lamp and how with the Genie's help Aladdin is able to destroy America. (This ride is of course found in Fantasyland). (Note: Jasmine only has small parts in this story, is not allowed to speak and must be completely covered at all times);

*The Mad Turban Party: Here you will enjoy a ride aboard giant turbans that spin when you turn the steering wheel;

*Malice in Talibanland: This ride will take you through the story of the Taliban as they ravaged towns, raped the women and stole all the food from the villagers. (Children must at least be three years old to ride);

*It's an Islamic World After All: Enough said;

OSAMATOWN:

*Osama bin Laden's House: Here you can visit the great bin Laden's home as he left it when he went into hiding. This one-bedroom mud-brick adobe comes complete with bullet holes and dirt floor. (Meet Osama is temporarily closed due to the current hunt for him but if you are lucky you may find him hiding in one of the many caves in Al-Qaeda Island).

(Disclaimer: Disney and Afghanistan are not responsible for any injuries caused by Daisy-Cutter and Cluster bombs that may be dropped by American Forces. Beards and turbans are required for men entering the park. Remember, No Beards, No Turbans, No Service and possible execution).

Contemporary Fire Works

by TC

The Contemporary resort has a restaurant called the California Grill on the 15th floor. Call and get a reservation so you will be there when they launch the Magic Kingdom fireworks. They turn down the lights and pipe in the music so you can watch the show.

Another romantic spot is at the beach near the polynesian or Grand Floridian. They have a water parade that goes by at night and it is neat to see it from the beach (check with the hotel for times when it passes by).

by

hello
how are you doing? My wife and I have done loads of Disney over the last seven years ( we are from the UK )
I guess one of the nicest places we have eaten is at the californian grille at Disney's Contemporary Resort.
Although it looks a bit dated now the food is excellent, make sure you get a good seat overlooking the magic kingdom where you can also see the firework display
very romantic!!!!!!!!!!
have a good one

WDW with solo 13 year old

by

Planning a trip with a solo 13year old. Can anyone suggest activities that are safe so the teen doesn't feel like they are attached to the parents the whole time? Any "backstage tours" - they seem to start at 16. Any supervised evening activities so parents can dine out in an adult environment? Any and all suggestions appreciated.

E.J. I myself do not have any children (yet) But I can't wait to have kids and bring them to Disney! Anyway I can;t really be of help to tell you where to take them but I can suggest that you stay clear of Pleasure Island It is a little to "adult" for a 13 year old. At least in my opinion!

HELP!! We're going to Disney on a serious budget.

by

We are going to Disney on Sept. 29 - Oct 6 and staying off-site at the Sheraton Vistana. We truly can not afford this trip and will probably not be able to afford it any time soon, but we're going anyway. We are really stressed and need this trip to unwind. You only live once!

Has anyone of you ever travel to Disney on limited funds. We actually only have $900 that has to pay for park tickets, food, souvenirs, etc. Our accommodations are paid for. We are staying in a condo, so we will be having breakfast, lunch and dinner in our room for 5 of the 7 days. We plan on purchasing the 3 day-3 park tickets which will be used at MK, MGM and AK.

The Vistana has a lot of activities and pools to keep us busy on our no park days. We are also going to visit the Ripley's Believe it or not and attend one character meal.

We have 3 children ages, 12, 9 and 6 months. My 2 big girls will just be happy to be somewhere different. We have never traveled anywhere, so this is truly a treat.

We are giving the kids about $20 to buy souvenirs the last day of the trip.

We are driving to Florida from Maryland. This is a 14 hour drive, but it saves on airfare, and we don't like to fly anyway.

What do you think? Any and all suggestions, advice and criticisms are welcomed?

Thanks a lot!!

Karen

You can do it if you do some serious planning. I have always bought the Kim Wright Wiley books and used them. They always help me with planning. Seriously, I have taken a calendar and marked each day with a plan of park to visit, meals and any other activity for the day. You will need to be somewhat flexible, but it can be done. Bring as much of your kitchen staples with you that you can and plan to throw them away for your return. That way you have extra room for the souveniers. Orlando is expensive. It is a tourist town. There are no deals for tickets, purchase your park tickets in advance. Off-site accomodations sometimes have coupons for things to do outside of the park for days when you are Disney'ed out. Hope some if this helps. Enjoy your time away. It sounds like you truly deserve this holiday.

We are going down to disney in mid oct. and are on a very serious budget too. I found a suite with a fridge and stove for 45 dollars a night. I am watching at the store for sales on tasteycakes and snacks that can go into a small cooler backback for inside the parks. I plan on buying sandwich meats and bread and taking my own cereal for breakfasts. I'm on a atkins diet so my food is going to be difficult but I have a few tricks up my sleeve. We are driving from PA to save on flight costs. It is 2 adults and 2 children. I plan on wasting no money on souviniers. I will explain to kids before we even go. I plan on freezing four water bottles for each day in park and refilling from the water fountains. I really believe it can be done. I hope you have a blast. Good luck..

Typhoon Lagoon vs Blizzard Beach?

by

I saw a couple people answered a similar question (Typhoon Lagoon vs Blizzard Beach if you can only visit one) - two people responded and said Blizzard Beach - but can anyone out there that has been to both give a little more detail? Why would you recommend Blizzard Beach?....it it bigger, less crowded, more slides, more to do? We want the one that will appeal most to us; we will be taking three girls ages: 11, 13, & 14 in July. Any info would be GREATLY appreciated!!!! Anyone that has been to both please answer and tell me your favorite, and why. THANK YOU!!!

which one to visit

by dawn

Personally I'd choose Typhoon Lagoon if I was taking kids. Blizzard Beach has more slides but has very little in the way of shady areas, which if you're going in July might be a factor. Also the kids area at Typhoon Lagoon is better thought out; at some slides in the kids area at Blizzard Beach you lose sight of your kids for a while. Some of the slides at Blizzard Beach can be a bit bruising too. If you are just going for slides then I'd say Blizzard Beach but if you want to relax with the kids then Typhoon Lagoon. Watch out for the surf wave though, some kids end up under adults when the surf settles! Hope this helps some, have a great trip.

Hi! We are going on our honeymoon on Sept 10-15 and staying at the Polynesian. Will their be any fireworks or electrical water pageants during our stay? Also, I've heard the parks close around 6-7pm. Is this true?

They have fireworks every night at Epcot, and the Fantasmic show at MGM is also year round. Magic Kingdom closes around 6 or 7pm in September, Epcot 9pm, MGM around 8pm, and Animal Kingdom 5pm (but it's open at 8am). Don't worry though, the parks are less crowded in september so you'll see more in less time. Enjoy your honeymoon.

November plans

by

November is a great time to go, pending on dates. Last year, we left the Sunday after Thanksgiving and hit all the Christmas festivities. We had a great time! However, we usually go around Oct 31 and spend time at EPCOTs Food and Wine Festival. Like I said, this past year was the first in which we changed our dates. The Festival is awesome. A lot of food, wine, and beer samples. Going on, WDW is open on holidays. I'm not sure how crowded it is though. I know it's not during peak season and the weather is perfect. Any other questions, let me know.

Hey Lori,

Thanksgiving is a great time to go to WDW. We typically go during this time as well...... Yes, they are open Thanksgiving day, actually WDW is open 365 days a year. Thanksgiving day is the day they put up all the decorations all over the parks, resorts, and everything else. To us, without any question, this is the best time to be there. It gets more and more crowed the week of Thanksgiving as each day passes....

Lots to see and do....

If you have any other questions- please let me know. Also this website has moved to another location. Below is the new site address...

Good luck,

Greg
