Well i was wrestling an upper weight and they put me in a front head and arm lock after i shot and they pulled it and all of a sudden this massive pain just started. It almost feels like my back needs to get cracked but every time i get somebody big to crack it for me it cracks everything but the spot that hurts the most. The center of the pain is right next to my right shoulder plate but it runs down all the way to the middle of my neck to the middle of my back, ive been told to take ib profin ( advil alleve ) to heal it but those just kill the pain and i think the pain is too much for what i have, im pretty sure its a pinched nerve i checked with a local doctor he told me just to ease up but that hasn't been doing anything can anyone please give me some information on how to treat this pinched nerve or muscle?!

Thanks in advance
Naveed

I hate to tell you this but his is right. I have had them many times and my doctor tells me every time to slow down on training and let it heal. If its the offseason and you can afford to lay low for a little bit and work more on cardio than wrestling and weight training I would recommend it.

Mr. pinched nerve,
First of all, no offense to certain doctors, but what kind of a doctor did you talk to (family practice, internal medicine, etc) because unless it was specifically an orthopedic, sports medicine, or neurosurgeon they probably are not the most knowledgeable on the subject. Second, did you just talk to them or did they actually examine you? Because while resting it is probably true to an extent, the top priority is to make sure you did not really mess yourself up.

i talked to a family practice but i think he's a sports doctor as well he knows his stuff and i'm 99% sure it was a pinched nerve i took ib profun, cold baths, and iced/stretched i a lot and it seemed to get better i feel it a lil bit when i wrestle really hard in camps/practice but other than that its pretty much gone, all i'm doing is taking a motrin ib pill every day before i wrestle and yeah i guess its better, but i seem to get them a lot you got any additional info, cuz im sure i'll experience it again.

Thanks in Advance

You may have a vertebrae (spine) or rib assymetry, which means that when you got injured or because of how long it has been and any potential muscles spasms that have coincided with it, 1 or more of the bones in your spine and/or ribs could have gone "out of place". You may want to get checked out by a chiropractor, or a physical therapist that specializes in spinal mobilization/manipulation to treat you at the specific level of your problem.

Careful Naveed,

I wrestled with what I was sure was a pinched nerve in my neck for a while. Just kept getting worse until fingers started going numb. MRI ended up showing that bone spurs were pressing from the inside of two spinal disks into the spinal canal. GET AN MRI!
