Possible Elbow Injury?

I just got done with a tournament and for the past couple of days (I had this problem during preseason practices, but not as bad, and I didn't have the elbow pain last year at all) I have had this odd pain in both of my elbows (it is getting increasingly more painful, at least I believe it is anyways). The odd thing is that I only will get it from wrestling (that could be an actual match, or practice).

I don't feel the pain all the time, just after/before wrestling. And once the pain starts it lasts for 30-60 minutes, and the pain will lessen overtime. I feel it mostly in the crease between your forearm and bicep (opposite side of the elbow) and I do feel it (less though) just a tiny bit above my elbow, below the tricep.

I don't believe the pain was caused from some sort of past experience like perhaps I could of slammed my elbows down.

I can't really describe the pain, it isn't so much painful as it is uncomfortable, I suppose it could be best described as tight-stiffness. This also affects my wrestling if I am to be wrestling before the pain goes away (which is only temporarily and once I am done wrestling, the cycle of pain starts again).

There doesn't seem to be a set time for the pain to start, I wrestled for a whole match and I had tremendous pain after the match. I then had about a 45 minute break until my other match and it was somewhat better but right after that match was finished I felt the pain again.

This will effect my wrestling if I have to wrestle a match while still feeling the pain.

Another note, I have never gotten this pain while weight lifting, which suprises me because it would seem that having to lift a weight would be put similar stress on the elbows as wrestling.

Can anyone help me? Should I take Advil, or something else after/during/before practice/matches? Should I see a doctor (If so what kind)?

Any kind of information would be greatly appreciated!

Mr. Elbow,
My first question is how old are you? Second, do you feel the pain suddenly during a match (like with a specific movement) or only afterwards. You can take an anti-inflammatory like Advil or Aleve after wrestling, and put cold on it; but you should not take anything before wrestling at this point. Your body is trying to tell you something is wrong, it can be tendonitis, a sprain, or something more. As far as what kind of doctor you should see, go see an orthopedic doctor (most likely an orthopedic surgeon).
Let me know the anwers to the questions, and we'll go from there.

Bob

Mr. Elbow??

To answer your first question, I am 15.

I don't feel the pain with sudden movement or anything, I am sure I get the pain during a match, but I am focused more on wrestling so I probably can't tell, few minutes after it is over, I am dieing in agony over the pain. I've been going to an orthopedist for the last year now due to a past scaphoid fracture, and a more recent broken thumb - I highly doubt either of these previous injuries had any relevance to this current problem, but I won't rule it out as a possibilty. In anycase, I'll probably be going to Urgent Care this weekend because I don't have an Orthopedist apointment for another 2 weeks. Oddly enough, sometimes the pain comes on a lot faster. Not to mention the "pain level" differs. I am pretty sure that this is a case of some form of tendonitis. I even spoke to my schools athletic trainer about it and he said it is probably bicep tendonitis (is there such a thing?)

Bicep Tendonitis is a real thing, your pain sound a little more severe than typical bicep tendonitis but it is still very possible. Urgent Care probably will not be too useful except for taking an X-ray which is a good idea. With wrestling, there are many possiblities that can come about from falling since wrestling consists often of falling during a match. Falling on an outstretched arm can cause all sorts of problems. One example is called Osteochondritis Dessicans. Do you have pain with bearing weight on your arm, like in a pushup position (expecially a 1 arm pushup), also do you have any motion loss in your arm - like inability to fully extend your elbow?
In the case of tendonitis or an actual injury, you should be resting your arm right now, which means no wrestling until you get it checked out. You orthopedist will be your best bet.
Incidentally, past wrist/hand injuries can develop into problems higher up (like in the elbow). Let me know what the urgent care people said.

I use to wrestle and had the same thing same location. It all started because
I use to arm wrestle at lunch time. The only cure is to stay off it for a while and don't aggravate it. It may show up again throughout your life.
