im wonderin if i have a good idea

im buying my first hound0...well im gettin it for free anyways im wonderin if i should get it its 8 years old kinda old i know lots of experience so wonderin if i should get it plus a younger inexperienced maleand have them run together then when the old one dies i get a new female and have the male run with her...... let me know thanks!!!
