Why Listen to Cooper?

I feel that it is quite ironic that Cooper states that American writers and American readers have nothing to write or read about especially since he is an American writer writing during this time. As we can see from the numerous amounts of American writers, that America has a great deal to offer. Europe quite obviously, is far older than America and does have a rich history, culture, and background. Looking back at America's history, one can find a tremendous amount to write about. American has a great deal of history, tradition, and culture of its own. Cooper needs to look and see the beauty that surrounds him.
