One In Nature

by Laura Carr

Emerson's contemporaries saw a new way of looking at nature and society. The words and ideas Emerson wrote about dealt with emotions, colors and all the human senses. Although Emerson intertwined many human aspects to society, the overall message immensily appealed to people. Emerson had the ability of putting richness to words that touched people spiritual, thus, making them be more reflective in searching for an inner quiet soul. A soul searching movement that brought out feelings, attitudes and new discoveries about nature and the human spirit. Emerson's launch of words using nature and pulling in the very aspects of people's everyday lives shows his dedication to the craft of writing. His contemporaries began to see and appreicate his writings for the beauty that nature shares with the human being.

Emerson dealt with many tragic life experiences. Therefore, his ability to express these feelings by using nature as his tool of recovery or some type of resoultion clarifies a process of healing for him personally. People are so busy living and struggling in life; they forget to smell the roses around them in their own world. For example, Mother nature has a powerful way of enhancing or destoring things to keep her kingdom in alignment by her own standards. Emerson strongly feels people in society are caught up in their own everyday happenings which isolates them from a real elegance that lies right in their very own garden. A person's social life develops and expands through their own nurturing of experiences, Emerson's message and ideas are brought to the forefront in order to get people in today's society to recognize that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. People have a powerful tool within themselves to use with nature and create a higher awareness for each person they connect with in life.
