Blithedale- The movie!

First off, what an interesting concept to tackle. I would love to see a movie made from this book, I think it would, to say the least, be very interesting!

The first thing a director would have to think about carefully, is the time setting in which this novel is depicting. It is very important for the director to portray the correct time that the novel discusses, the romantic era. Next, I would guess that another challenge would be the actual setting itself. The novel discusses many different places around the world, so therefore, the director must find geographic places that would do the novel justice. Imagery is also another key factor when making a movie, it is particularly important not to mix up the century with an image that you would find in contemporary society now.

Now, the best part, choosing the proper actors and actresses for the parts of Coverdale, Zenobia, Hollingsworth, and Priscilla. I would choose Richard Gere for Coverdale, because he possesses a natural suave attitude which I think would be perfect for the role of Coverdale. For Zenobia, the first actress that comes to mind is Michelle Pfiefer because she has such a strong on-screen personality, with Zenobia's dynamic persona, I think she would be a hit. For Hollingsworth, I would choose Harrison Ford, although he isn't on my top ten list, I feel like he has what it takes to play the role of the philanthropist. Finally, I am caught with my mind drawing a complete blank on Priscilla, it seems like the other characters were so much easier to choose, but for Priscilla, I'm uncertain, as to which actress would be able to take on the part with as much passion and strength as her character is justly due.
