Oscar Nominee!by Renatka Kuc
This would truly be a fun and interesting movie to watch. Some of the difficulties I see in making this movie would be the many different scene changes throughout the novel. The characters do not stay in one place for too long. It would be very difficult for a director to capture the various scenes on film, not to mention costly. A director would also have a hard time creating a script for Coverdale. Most of the novel is in narrative form and how could one capture that effect on camera? The movie wuld have to be six hours long. The director would also need to shorten the script for the novel is quite lengthy but he needs to make sure that he does not cut out some of the underlying crutial material in the book that does not stick out so easily. There would have to be a large team working on this movie in order to edit the novel properly and create a script that follows the book and identifies the characters and their situations properly. They need to make it easy for the viewing audience to follow and understand the book and its characters. It would be quite a challenge, but an exciting one at that. I would pay to see this movie. As far as actors for this movie I would choose Uma Thurman as Priscilla because she has a waifish look about her. She is tall, lanky, and her eyes dominate her face. I would pick Meryl Streep as Zenobia for she resembles elegance and class. She is beautiful and has an air of authority where people need to listen to what she says. For Holingsworth I chose Gabriel Byrnes. His facial features and demeanor would be able to tell the entire story of his character without him saying a word.Brad Pitt for Westervelt for his looks say it all, and as for Coverdale I chose Ralph Fienes. He would be able to play a man who can not make up his mind quite well. This movie would surely be an Oscar Nominee, don't you agree? Posted on Oct 27, 1999, 6:28 PMRespond to this message
