would it become The Waco Romance?byi wrote a comment on this one time before but it got erased. your idea about handling the perception of Blithedale as a "cult" in modern times was a great observation that i feel would be extremely important in creating the films. i think that it would be very difficult to portray blithdale without inciting a free assocation fest with heaven's gate and waco. your idea about creating character identification in order to dispel people's negative perceptions of blithedale as a cult should be taken into consideration by anyone planning to adapt this book into a movie. i also think that if the commune could be conveyed as a "normal" thing of the time period, or show it more as a living arrangement than a society bound by ideology, it would help to prevent people from "shutting down" and leeting their modern perceptions take over. great point!
