Never forget when Alty played Stafford the year Barnet went up, the game was at Stafford and live on that cable channel that went bust. The Alty players were knackered but still top, a win would probably almost seal it for us, big Alty following roared in the opener for us after about 10 minutes.
Then a Stafford free kick and our wall conveniently lined up leaving a gap you could drive a bus through on the left hand side....we may as well have painted a big 50 ft arrow with "aim here" written on it. Remember that goal in Holland with the commentator going "he's gonna chip it, he's gonna chip it..."...?
We lost 2-1, Barnet went up to their amazement but the rest (as Droylsden, Hucknall or any currently succesful side who have no past will tell you) is history.
