Response to I am having a lot of trouble defining "personal attacks" on this forum.

FD says he is having trouble defining "personal attacks" on this forum, and so am I. I say anything that relates to a person's behavior, in regard to cryonics activities, is fair game. For example, if I write, "Suzie Q pumped air to Patient X," and it is true, it is not a personal attack. Or, if I write "Suzie Q paid herself, (out of a cryonics organization's funds), a bazillion dollars to build medical equipment that could have been purchased for a few hundred bucks," and that is true, it would not be a personal attack. However, if I write, "Suzie Q was once arrested for streaking a New York Jets game and arrested for shop-lifting," I believe that would constitute a personal attack. (Unless, maybe a nude woman in a ski mask had been videotaped stealing from the cryonics organization where she worked. wink.gif)

Things like "FD smells bad and dances like a chicken," (Meant to be funny, I have never met FD and, therefore, don't have a clue as to how he smells, or dances), would definitely be a personal attack.

Here's one definition I found:

FD: But to say that an "attack" is a mere mention of someone's name, is pretty much censorship.

I'll agree with that.

FD: And I really, really, really don't like seeing my posts and those of others above me in a thread, deleted.

Of course, I have a personal interest in the thread that was deleted, so I was happy to see it disappear. (And, no, I did not ask the moderator to take it down...I believe I can thank unperson, for that...thanks, un.) The information posted was totally unrelated to my activities in cryonics, and was nothing more than a vicious, malicious, personal attack. I have an inbox filled with some rather harsh criticisms of the person who posted it, and of the moderator for allowing it to remain on the forum for the length of time it did. To that last criticism...I certainly don't expect the moderator to be monitoring the forum every minute of every day...it's not like he gets paid to keep us in line, (and, I'm sure that's a rather blurry line, at times).

FD...I hope you saw my response to your questions. If you did not, or you have additional questions, please email me, privately.
