A personal attack would be one in which you critique a person's activities outside the context of their role in cryonics, or one in which you malign a person's character. It would also include posting personal information, such as addresses, private e-mail, postings on a private forum, criminal records, medical records, etc. Especially if the intent is to use that information to discredit, or discount, a person's credibility in some other unrelated area. In some cases, repeatedly badgering or harassing another poster could also fall into that category of unacceptable behavior, but exactly where that line is drawn is unclear. Unfortunately, there is some gray area, and I don't think we will all always agree on its exact nature. I can only do my best to be as objective, balanced, and fair as is possible for someone in my position. Some of my decisions over the last few weeks have angered people on all sides of the various disputes we have seen in these forums. Some feel I should be more restrictive, others less, and they often disagree on which posts should and shouldn't be deleted or otherwise censured. Hopefully, as we continue this debate, we can find some common ground on what is, and isn't, appropriate in this forum. I welcome any and all discussion of this topic, including critiques of my performance as a moderator. Please feel free, I'm open to suggestions.
