FD: "I believe the public has the right to know the background, good or bad, about those who seek to be leaders or outspoken authorities in cryonics (or most anything else, for that matter). The character and reputation of such a person should be factored into the decision made by others as to that person's credibility, dependability, and integrity."
I am no more an "authority" in cryonics, than FD, who has been around a lot longer than I have, and who has been quite outspoken and critical of the organizations and a number of individuals involved in cryonics. Does anyone see the irony if FD's willingness to disseminate information, (unrelated to cryonics), about another person, while refusing to even provide his real name?
Contrary to what FD puts forth, it is not the place of readers of the Cold Filter Forum to determine "whether this type of criminal record is relevent to her further working in perfusion..." That decision would be up to the administrators of hospitals, employers, and regulators, all of whom reviewed this issue, and decided in my favor, a decade ago. As for cryonics, I have no intention on seeking employment in cryonics, and it's my understanding that the field of cryonics has quite a few individuals with arrest records.
FD: "And also to the credibility of her remarks about cryonics."
That's nonsense. It has nothing to do with remarks about cryonics. The credibility of such remarks should be determined with relative evidence.
FD: "Same goes with Jordan - people should be aware of the Oregon Cryonics details that he has abandoned. Folks should know about that in the event that he resumes any such activities and whether they should take him seriously."
Perhaps he reconsidered what was being offered by Oregon Cryonics, and decided revising their services was the wise thing to do. Regardless, this issue IS related to cryonics.
FD: "Perhaps the most serious example in the past on this forum was all the discussions about Bob Nelson. Should we have refused to allow discussion of all the patients that got thawed out under his auspices, since that by some people's definition would be a "personal attack"? I think not."
I'm not very familiar with this incident, but I would say discussions of cryonics "patients that (allegedly) got thawed out under his auspices" would be an appropriate discussion for a cryonics forum, unless people were including unrelated information.
FD: "P.S. Yes I had suspected that the subthread deletion might happen, and did save the lengthy post from Melody giving her explanation of the incident in question, as well as her post replying to my questions. If anyone wants these, I feel they have the right to read them, and will email them to anyone on request. firstname.lastname@example.org"
I find it vastly amusing that a critic of cryonics organizations and employees who won't even provide his real name thinks it acceptable to email out unrelated personal information about a fellow critic. Since these posts have been taken down, and are no longer in "the public domain," I suggest FD "cease and desist." Maybe, instead, he should publish his real name, so we can do a background check on him, so we can determine the credibility of his remarks about cryonics. (Sarcasm.)
Some people involved in recent posts on this forum, (especially Platt and Sparks), may want to ask their attorneys, but I believe even truthful information can be considered to be "defamation" if it is unrelated to the topic at hand (cryonics) and intended solely to ruin someone's reputation. It's really sad that some of the people working in cryonics, (like Platt, for example) can only defend themselves against criticisms of their activities related to cryonics, with lies and/or personal attacks.
I did not ask the moderator to take down the original posts, but in retrospect, I should have. I now ask that the moderator to take down FD's and Platt's recent posts that include remarks about my background that are totally unrelated to cryonics, as well as my responses to those posts.
