Charles Platt: “Now, as for Alcor suing to recover a buried body, they have (IMHO) no other ethical choice. If the patient's documents state that cryopreservation must be attempted under any circumstance, well, what are you going to do, ignore the patient's preferences.”

Just a little common sense is required. If the “patient” were cremated, would Alcor run to the court demanding that the family return the ashes, because “patient” demanded Alcor’s treatment “under any circumstances”? Alcor here went over the deep end. The judge may ask them just one question: “What kind of medical research you quacks want to do with 50 lbs. of decomposed organic material?” IMHO the judge most likely will throw the book at them. I think Alcor has a wrong set of lawyers. Hopefully they do not use the real estate and corporate insolvency J.D. experts that sit on their democratically nonelected Board.
