That's more like what I had in mind..

I think voluntary methods can and will work, though they should certainly become less clumsy to apply as technology improves. A not-universally-voluntary deterrant would be more like plan B or C, but passively letting overpopulation go to the extremes that would result in massive deaths and suffering is more like plan F.
