Maxim has an email from Platt, stating that the false statements Harris made on Cold Filter were from a private email from Platt to Harris, and Maxim can prove the statements were false. It is my opinion that the "corrective statement" was a tacit admission of libel, but if Platt and Sparks want to hang onto the little thread that there was, technically, no direct admission of libel, they can have that.
This all started when Mathew dredged up a two-month old post of mine, wanting to chastise me for not contributing to his website. I had barely been mentioning SA, or anyone associated with that company, in recent months, so I didn't understand why a highly paid SA employee wanted to criticize me, for not donating more of my own time, to cryonics. In response, I posted nine legitimate questions, for the management/leadership of SA, wondering what THEY are doing, to improve the quality of patient care and to further the science of cryonics, with an annual budget that is well over a million dollars a year. Instead of answers from SA, this forum got an emotional response from Mathew, followed by Platt, (who claims to no longer be working at SA), offering to give private email responses to people who would write him, (which was of concern, to me, because I felt that, if he had LEGITIMATE answers, he should simply post them on the forum). Then we got a lot of nonsense from Jordan. We got everything EXCEPT answers to the questions.
FD is right. Ben and Andy have always been willing to come to this forum and answers questions, and they have been treated with the utmost respect. On the other hand, no legitimate answers to my questions about SA, or FD's questions about Alcor have ever been answered. Instead, we get a lot of whining about the "well being poisoned," and other such nonsense. Yes, "the well has been poisoned." It's probably become a lot more difficult for people to come here and deceive people into believing that certain organizations are something they are not. This might make some people feel they can only provide their responses privately, and perhaps, confidentially.
As for Platt's musings about a cryonics organization and libel suits, I'm sure the City of Boynton Beach and the South Florida newspapers would love to have some of my questions about SA answered...especially about their operating room, the pig experiments, and certain medications laymen may have carried across state lines, (I don't know if they did so, improperly, or not...but I'd like to know). There are a lot more questions where those came from, (and not all of them are mine).
I have been wondering why SA is what it is, and isn't what I feel it should be, for more than two years, now, without getting any satisfactory answers. Everytime I ask those questions, all I get are personal attacks/"flame wars" I think this makes a lot of people suspect that there are no valid answers to my criticisms. All I really want is for someone at SA, specifically Catherine Baldwin, (not someone who doesn't even work there, (whom even others have accused of having difficulty with honesty), offering up private emails), to answer them. She might want to try it. After all, as FD has pointed out, it has worked well for CI.
