Two Legs Good, Two wheels bad: Should cycling be allowed in Highgate Woods?

by Local Resident

I use the woods quite often and so far, despite the present ban on cycling, have not had cause to complain. I feel an enormous amount of effort and money is already being spent to enable cyclists to make use of their machines on the roads and see no reason why the woods should be opened up to cycling. I fear the maniacs on mountain bikes will then tear around the woods and cause general mayhem.

At present the wood is a peaceful retreat with few dangers, but that would end as soon as it was opened to cyclists.

Cyclists pay no taxes, but millions are spent providing for them on the roads. I often hear the cry from cyclists that they are bullied by cars.... Well the pedestrians don't want to be bullied either...... Two Legs Good, Two wheels bad
