I finally had a chance to mix up the shea butter Fox sent me. I'm living backwards again, so no energy except in the middle of the night, which does me no good at all. I mixed it with Suave Coconut conditioner, which turned out to be the only regular conditioner in the house. I've been slowly replacing my hair care products, and I haven't decided which one to buy next. Anyway, the oil was jojoba. It smells wonderful. Now I have to wait until it cools.
Five o'clock in the afternoon, and NOW I'm sleepy. I'm missing summer with this night owl routine. It's a wonderful day to get something done outside, not too hot, and I have zero energy. I am so BORED with being sick.
Don't think I'm going to be getting any new hair supplies this month. Ariel and Princess are going in to be nuetered and it's flea and worming time for everyone, so we're looking at at least $200, maybe more. $61.87 for the wormer alone. Not much use to use the wormer without the flea stuff, or not do all the animals at the same time.
I give up, it's just about an hour before I need to give the wallies their bottle, I'm taking a nap until then. I have all that research to do and I'm falling asleep at the keyboard. Wish I had the engergy my gold dusts do, they are popping all over their cage in this warm weather. If I could just teach the critters to do housework, instead of making it...whoops, there they go again. They sure can jump and move fast, I'm dreading cleaning their cage. I wonder what it would be like to be able to jump so lightly and have suction cup toes?
Didn't get to try the shea butter until after midnight. I went in to say good night to Kerry and put it on while I was talking to him. I'd just taken out the french braid he'd done yesterday. It actually looked pretty good, but then I combed it and it exploded like a dandelion clock like usual. We are sitting there talking about how nice this stuff smells. I put a pea sized drop on my hair, and it seemed to just soak it up, so I put another pea sized bit in. I asked Kerry if it was any shinier in spite of the fuzz, and he said it wasn't that frizzy. Zoop, out to the mirror. My hair was super fluffy from the braids, but it just looked fluffy instead of frizzy. I've seen worse on movie stars who have hairdressers and their beck and call. I was kind of disapointed earlier, because my hair felt weird from the olive oil seeming to not rinse out. It's lost that coated feeling and just feels nice and soft. I can hardly wait to try Tanja's honey recipe and then put this in afterwards.
I had Kerry look at my ends today, they are skimpy but not very damaged. All he saw was a few he called micro splits. Hopefully I can get another inch before I trim again. Only 3 inches to go before I reach the first layer. I combed it when it was damp yesterday to see how it looked. Totally pathetic. The sides that were about chin length are just long enough to show when I push them back over my shoulders so now I have this very deep U with a fringe of skimpy ends all the way around. It took me a minute to realize the reason it looked so awful is because my hair has actually grown that much. I wonder how many years I'm going to have to put up with this until it looks decent. Good thing my hair has enough wave to hide a bit of that.
Since I've been learning on this board, I've been doing lots of things with my hair. I just felt I couldn't afford high end hair products. Ironically, everything my hair likes best is fairly inexpensive. The initial output on any of this stuff is reasonable, and the more expensive stuff lasts for a very long time. Plus my body loves jojoba oil. My hands have stopped breaking out, just from the little bit they get when I spread the oil in my hair. What little shea butter that was left in the spoon I smoothed on my arm. My skin likes it too. I may just end up buying pretty bottles to put the shea butter mixes in and get rid of those umteen other products that are cluttering up my life. The women in my life may just be getting some unique presents for Christmas. Mom and Tracie would love it. Note to self, next time we're home, find out how long Mom's hair is.
"I like pina colatas and walks in the rain" Can't imagine why that keeps running through my brain, LOL.
