I haven't posted for so long, I can't believe how many more journals there are! The Loom is really growing, but still staying sweet and supportive. First time I've ever seen a political discussion with strong feelings on both sides and everyone totally gracious to each other. I think that about sums it up.
After dithering for so long, I finally sent for the henna samples from Henna for Hair and Rainbow. Didn't hear back from either one, but got my sample from Henna for Hair today!! I think I ordered it on Sunday. Bethany just went home today, I was hoping she would be here for the testing, I want to get her switched over too. She had an emergency visit because she was having an anxiety attack, but she was just fine here. Cleaned my house too!
Anyway, I have to wait overnight for the dye to release. I'm just adding lemon juice this time. The plan is to try it first on part of the harvested hair. If it doesn't turn green or go up in smoke, I'll try a strand test, if there is enough left. It's a very small sample (hey, it was basically free!) so I don't know if there will be enough. It doesn't matter too much, if it doesn't do anything nasty I can do the strand test after I get more. I'm just not sure if I'm going to need to add anything to get more auburn than fire. I'm so excited and not at all patient!
Since I use this to keep track of my critters too, I now have a very sweet, 30 year old kinkajou. She came to me from three years of being kept in a rabbit cage, before that she was with a lady for 27 years. Emily has had some hard times, but after the first few days we worked the problems out and she is just a joy. I haven't let her run with Moosie yet, but she gets on great with the cats. She's facinated with Moosie, always goes and rolls on his blanket. When he comes up to the cage she runs right over to bump noses. He doesn't seem agressive, so I hope he will think she's just a weird cat. She's so old she really doesn't have any control over her wetting, so I'm trying to find diapers for her so she can be out more. She really gets upset when she wets on me, poor little thing.
My hair was back to 27", just barely. I had Kerry trim the ends 1/2" last month. You could barely tell by the hair on the floor, my ends were so thin. So this month I had him trim to the next level, 2 inches. So I'm back to 25" but those ends were so thin my hair doesn't really look much shorter. The next level is only about an inch up, so I think I will just keep it at this length until I get there. Then maybe let it grow to my waist and keep it there while it grows out. We'll see. I hated the thought of losing length, but am really much happier with it looking healthier. It's still below my bra strap and for the first time I sort of feel I actually have long hair.
Kerry is at 27 1/4 and Lynn, that creep, is already at 22"!!! The tinsel shows against her dark hair like it is artificial, it's so bright. She has very fine, soft hair. She needs a trim, finally, but since she won't let a friend do it, don't know when that's going to happen. I can't believe how fast her hair is growing! With no damage, sigh! Gee, a head of hair with no split ends.
Time for lemon juice. First I have to find a clean glass!
