Dog camp

All,
I had the great fortune of visiting Lou Gleber's summer camp up in South Dakota last week. Lou is the real deal and I learned a great deal in the short time I was there. I saw a young pointer that Lou was working that took my breath away. The dog was bred by a man named Francis Rodriguez (sp?). I only got to see the dog off checkchord pointing a pigeon but man what style. He is out of Evolution, Bayou teche Willie stuff, if my memory serves me. Just curios if anybody is familiar with those lines and would like to add to my knowledge.

Matt

Lou Gleber

Matt...Lou is a fine fella and a great trainer with an eye for the good ones. I was fortunate enough to meet Lou when he lived near Ponca City. The Evolution blood you speak of , I do have at my kennel via a granddaughter of CH. Evolution, Bo'Darc Miss Evolution and through the CH. Fiddler's Ace breedings I have. The Byaou Teche Willie blood has eluded me. In my opinion, the nicest lookers I have seen on point, is the Bayou Teche Wille - Moonraker Crestline cross. These dogs look magnificent on point but I don't know much more about them.

Mike,
The thing I liked about that dog was his attitude. Lou was working him off checkchord and I really liked his response to corrections. With setters, at least mine and others I have been around, they have a tendency to be looking for that escape route. Usually right up against your leg. This dog just wanted that bird but he was paying attention to what Lou was asking of him as well. Since Wyoming is not exactly pointer central I get real excited when I see a nice one. Hopefully I can plan a long weekend this January or next and come see your dogs.

Matt

P.S. You don't happen to have a picture of Crosswhite's George you could share?
