I just got back from a morning hunt with my good friend Kenny Crosswhite. Great morning, we saw several whitetail does and fawns, 1 very nice whitetail buck, geese, ducks, sandhill cranes, pheasants and about 10 coveys of quail. Kenny brought 7 dogs, 5 of those were ones that I raised, that being, Pat, Cooper, Skip, Amos and Eli. Pat is by Hoss out of Rosie, Cooper is by Hoss out of a Stitch/Rosie female, Skip is by Hoss out of a daughter of Stitch, Amos and Eli are littermates by Stitch out of a daughter of Hoss, a littermate to Pat. This is the beginning of Pat's 3rd. season, Cooper is what I would call a red-shirt freshman, Skip, Amos and Eli are true freshmen. The dogs did a great job, points made by Pat, Cooper, and Skip.
Last weekend Kenny ran Pat and Cooper in a NSTRA field trial and got 1st. place with Pat on Saturday and 1st.. place with Cooper on Sunday. Kenny already has 4 firsts with Pat so he'll be a NSTRA champion soon. If I remember correctly you need 18 points to be considered a champion. You also need 3 firsts. Pat is WELL on his way.
After I left this morning, I received a call from my wife and she informed me that Rita started having pups. When I got home from my hunt around 1 p.m., she had already had 7 pups. My Sooners are putting a early whoopin on Texas A & M, this has already been a very good day!!!
Below are pics of Pat on covey point and Kenny with Pat in front of the "huntin' buggy".
