RM005 strap

According to all the RM literature the RM005 is a true sport watch...swim, play tennis, ski etc. I get the feeling that most of the owners have not subjected their watches to anything more than a spectator sport? Otherwise, why leather straps??? Should not the strap be as high tech as the watch? Or is it that once you spend 25-30K you don't want to go out and play, you get the Rolex out of the drawer. Just a thought.
