The new deployment IMO is more comfortable then the older deployment, but the tang is more comfortable still since there is no metal on the bottom that is in contact with your skin.
The new deployment is fairly wide when closed so it sits up against the bottom of your wrist. Depending on your wrist size, this might be a problem.
I have a 6 1/2 inch wrist and it basically covers over 3/4 of my wrist on the bottom but because there is curvature and its fairly well centered on my wrist, it is actually comfortable.
So in summary, your comfort milage may vary - definitely try one out if you can.
