To celebrate Richard Mille's inaugural sponsorship of the Monsoon Cup, at Terengganu, Malaysia, making it the richest prize in match racing sailing, Richard Mille has issued a limited edition RM005:

In white gold, only 50 to be made available, the special edition will be numbered accordingly and will have the Monsoon Cup insignia just below the '12' on the watch face.

A limited edition of 5 RM003's will also be available, with the same Monsoon Cup insignia below the 12, but I believe these are to be made available as prizes!

For more information - go to 'EVENTS' on the Richard Mille website:
http://www.richardmille.com/

For more information on the Monsoon Cup go the website on that:
http://www.monsooncup.com.my/

Cheers and good luck to all the competing crews. With RM003's at stake for the winning crews, it kind of makes you want to take up match racing sailing doesnt it!

Only Marketing, for a brand which has no marketing at the beginning ...

... I really disagree with the evolution taken by Richard Mille with products like RM014, RM015 and all the limited editions of RM005 (except the Starck), a limited edition is by definition a maketing strategy (except for products like RM009 which are technically very difficult), a product like RM014 brings nothing in technical terms, only a new design, I have nothing against the new design but the original concept of Richard Mille was to develop advanced design and advanced technology for watches, for the RM014 in particular, the new concept brought by the RM002 like the titanium bridge for the tourbillon and the barrel are not here, so the watch lose its essence, it is the same idea for the RM005 FM.

Nevertheless, I find RM004-V2 absolutely beautiful.

Thanks

agree and disagree

I disagree that Mille should only present new models that have a specific technical feature not found in existing models. Design evolution is important and may broaden Mille's presentation. In my opinion Mille has come to a cross road, he can't continuously bring out the same watch (case, design) but with different features because I can't see collectors having 3-4 RMs because of the ressemblance in models whereas for example the RM 14 even though immediately recognisable as a Mille explores a new path.

I agree with you regarding the RM 005, the limited editions with different dials and insignias is a bit enerving.

Choupaps - while I have some sympathy with your views...

The RM014 contains more innovative work than you give it credit for. While certain parts remain the same (the balance wheel and Breguet overcoil spring), the rest, from the basic bolts for the case, to the tourbillon cage and the more efficient location for the torque indicator, the watch has been re-thought through.

Admittedly few will have the opportunity to be introduced to the RM014 on board Perini Navi yachts, but the watch truly is more than the sum of its parts. I still stand by statement on the review of the RM014 that it is as path-breaking as the RM001 for its design work. While Richard Mille does lead with technological marvels such as the RM006, RM009, or the RM012, the RM014 is no less of an advance in the use of materials and design.

I too find the RM004-V2 absolutely beautiful; but out of the two, I would take a RM014 any day of the week (and independent of price).

Thanks for posting.

Also, is the model is going to use the old red jewel?.

October 17 2006, 10:14 AM

I appreciate that its only a promotional picture, but it seems to show the old red jewel, myabe its there to offset the red in Monsoon Cup insignia ..
