Which is better PLC or DCS

I am about to start a process control project, really the first control project for our small manufacturing plant (mainly manual assembly).

The project will be a mixture of analog control and digital logic control.

Which do you recommend: Distributed Control System (DCS) or Programmable Logic (PLC)?

Of the one you recommend, do you have a preferred brand?
