Terri Schiavo

I do not understand our country. We allow painless euthansia for pets, we give hardened murderers leathal narcotic cocktail mixes to end their miserable existences, yet this woman Terri Schiavo whose only crime is not leaving behind a living will, is being forced to starve to death and dehydrate to death. I do not agree with killing her, and I find it especially reprehensible the manner in which they have chosen to extinguish her. I don't know if any of the readers have ever taken extensive survival or first aid classes but as a former ski patroller I can tell you that death by dehydration and starvation is far from painless. If she has any comprehension of what is going on she will know that she is dying and more than likely be hallucinating in the last few days as she dies. Is that what we as a country call just? Is that Godly? Is that ethically and morally right? Why do we allow pets and criminals to slip peacefully and quickly into the arms of death yet we starve and dehydrate this woman for over a week. That sounds more like torture to me. The broader issue of course being the government deciding who is worthy of life and who isn't. Sorry for soap boxing but I just had to see if anyone else is on the same page I am. Love your blog.
