the first time i heard this song was when neil sang it on stage at the concerts i attended in oct. 2001, the very first leg of the "three chord opera" tour, and i really did not care too much for the song, however, recently i finally got around to buying the "three chord opera" cd. after listening to "at the movies" the past few nights, i can see why neil chose to do this song in concert over some of the others on his latest cd, with the headphones on, you can really catch very well the different sounds neil has incorporated into this song, these sounds are absolutely fantastic, i believe this song to be one of neils masterpieces, and i think that neil is quite proud of his artwork in this song and that is why he chose originally to include it in the tour, i believe the song was not very well received and that is why he dropped it later on, listen carefully next time you are playing the song, the sounds he has put together really do make a beautiful noise.
