first I must say, I love Neil sooooooo much, but in the film JLS I find it will be better, if he had only made instrumental music, because during the film his voice is disturbing.
To Richard Bach I can say, yes he is athaist, but he has his own mystic feeling. I read also his other books, sorry do say, I don't know how they are called in english (Brigde over time, one-being) and I was very enthusiasm over it. In "Bridge over time" he tell his life and I found that some occurence of Bach's own life are in connection to JLS, so I can say JLS is Richard Bach himself, but his "silverwings" are his aeroplains, he loved very, very much to fly.
