Hi Everyone, I don't post too often but this just has to be shared.
Neil was the special guest at New York University's first annual Autumn Fest. (It was sort of a mega parents weekend). They closed down the streets around the school and had a giant street fair with games, clowns, mimes, balloon stuff, lots of food and beverages (no alcohol), fireworks and picture opportunities and lots of stuff AND NEIL -- all free.
Neil was at opening ceremonies and said a few words to the students telling them not to do what he did and to STAY IN SCHOOL and get their degree. He sang Sweet Caroline and Headed to the Future (music provided on a sound system, sort of Kareoke(sp)). President Oliva gave Neil a NYU jacket and Neil took off the one he was wearing and threw it to the crowd.
My best friend's daughter attends NYU (she is really more like a niece to me). She found out about Neil's appearance late Thursday and called me to make sure I could get there and then managed to get tickets. Anyway, Neil looked terrific. Well rested. He was wearing a grey crew neck shirt, black pants and a light zip up black jacket...until he put on the blue NYU jacket.
He sounded wonderful. There was talk that he would stay to talk to the students but that didn't happen. I don't know why, he seemed very relaxed and really enjoying himself.
This is the first chance I have gotten to post this. There might be something in the New York papers today. If anyone is in New York you might want to check the news stands. My friend got some pictures with her disposable. If they come out OK I'll try to get my scanner working and post them somehow.
NOW THIS IS WHAT I CALL A NEIL FIX !
