I just wanted to inform you all of the pure hell i suffered. I had noticed a pea sized lump just to the side of my clitoris on a thursday, two days before that I thought I was getting a yeast infection so when the lump came i thought it to be part of a yeast, as I've only had one ever in my life before. Well, friday, the lump had grown/swelled twice its size. I was told it was a bartholins cyst ... although I questioned why it was up next to my clitoris instead of the lips, i was reassured the antibiotics would take care of it and that it was indeed a BC. Oh my .. it was so much worse. By Saturday, it had swelled the whole entire clitoral area, 6 times it's normal size (can you imagine??) I could not walk without going into convulsive fits. Fever was incredible and couldnt be controlled. I couldnt stand, sit, even lay down .. it felt as if it were going to bust like some alien movie. I, of course, phoned the doctor, my regular physician, she said to continue the anitbiotics throughout the weekend and I would go for a GYN first thing monday morning. Baths, OUCH!!! nothing, not even air, could touch it and it felt as if my clitoris itself were being stung by a mad as hell hornet or something. By Sunday, the horrible stinging was constant. Monday morning I was so bad that I absolutely could NOT walk at all!! I saw the GYN, she explained that it was a Periclitoris Abscess, very rare, and would most generally be misdiagnosed by a regular family practioner, and the pain of this is 10 times more than that of a BC. It is also dangerous if not treated immediately. The stage it was in, she had to do immediate surgery, but could not get me admittance until the following morning at 5AM, so, without numbing she had to push hard on the clitoris, forcing the pus out. OH my dear God in heaven, I never ever want to go throught that again!!! Surgery went well the next day. OH the relief! I can honestly say, of the 4 child births, I have never known such a pain as this "periclitoris abscess" ... never. So if you notice a small lump near the clitoris, do make haste and get into a GYN immediately!!!!!!! And dont let it be misdiagnosed as a BC, which too are very painful I hear.
