Response to Re: Excision Bartholins gland |

I am 22 and have been dealing with barthonine abcesses for about two years. I had emergency operations to have them drained twice because i was advised to "watch and wait" and things got worse really fast. That was on the left. When i was on vacation in India the right side decided to get in on the act. my trip was ruined! That time it burst on its own after about a week of excruciating pain. This has happened to me a second time (actually just ruptured today) but this one only lasted about two days.
I tried to talk to my doctor about having them both removed but he is reluctant. I am absolutely frustrated because he says he cannot remove the gland until another cyst starts, but i am usually in bed in tears within about 6 hours of noticing initial signs of swelling... at which point it is too late for removal and i need another drainage. i suppose this isnt very helpful but i havent had opportunity to counsel with other women who are facing these problems so your post made me feel a lot better!
I personally decided when i wasted half my vacation in India that i dont care about the risks and i will have the entire gland removed as soon as humanly possible. As soon as my GYN sees it my way, this is what i plan to do so i will update about the results. |
