Hi-
I'm sorry to hear about it, we all know how painful this experience is! Althogh, it could be a cyst, but not necessarily a Bartholin's cyst/abscess. The Bartholin's gland is located on each labia, and are responsible for lubricating the vulva. From what I've learned thus far, Bartholin's cysts only occur outside the vagina, although can grow to such sizes that the cyst obstructs the entry to the vagina, but doesn't enter the vagina. But, if the doctor gave you antibiotics, then she must have a hunch of some sort. Sitz baths also help---Sit in the bathtub in water was warm as you can handle, and those are supposed to expediate the process of helping the abscess (if it an abscess) to burst on its own. Good luck! |
