Thanks for your site Cat. It has been helpful if not comforting. I am working on my 3rd abscess in four years. I'm not happy at all. My GYN prescribes Augementin and it has helped thus far. I take my Augmentin 3xs a day for 7 days and I take a pain pill with it.(Naproxen Sodium). It takes 7 days once I began taking the antibiotic for the abscess to burst. I decided on my own to add the pain pill. It wasn't prescibed. It's an over the counter generic from Walmart that I take for menstrual cramps as well. I have not experienced the bad smell yet and I hope not to.

What I hate is how it sneaks up on you without warning. One day you wake up and there's a walnut size abscess in your vaginal area. And it's painful as all get out. I have not found the hot baths to really work yet because the pain is usually so great. If anyone has a better solution for this, DO TELL. Having to go 7 days before relief occurs is NO FUN. Thanks.
