i just wanted to say that i too have had two marzupulizations (so painful).
the first in March 2004. Whilst in hospital the lump returned immediatly. Doctors refused to listen to me saying it was just scar tissue. 3 months later the lump had grown to 8 cm and was so embarrasing and so painful.
Eventually the hospital booked me in again in march 2005 - only 3 months ago. i researched the bartholins to find out that it does re-occur after marzupulization and docs knew that. I was livid.
I asked that this time they remove the gland - i didnt care how much pain it was i could not bear the thought of another 6 weeks off work - unable to walk/sit comfortably/have sex with my boyfriend and so on...... Docs refusedd saying i was too young (i am 29) and that there was too many risks.
So in march - 3 months ago - i had marzupulization again.
And low and behold the bloody thing came back within a week. I am now at my wits end. I have had so many hospital visits i feel like i should have my own room. the docs at my hospital are embarrased and have admitted they dont understand why it keeps returning. They have now agreed that i can have the entire gland removed in August this year.
I am dreading it - they have advised that the pain after operation double that of marzupulization and that time off work could be up to two months before i am fully functional. But i have to say if it prevents the bloody thing from coming back then i will suffer it.
The reason i am on the site tonight is that my lump now appears to be infected and has turned black - disgusting i know - it makes me feel sick just thinking about it. I panicked and am trying to find out if normal - i cant find anything so i think not and am therefore making another trip to hospital in the morning. great.
Anyway sorry your going through the same thing and i hope your docs can sort it. please email back if you have any further advice/tips etc.
