My second Bartholin abscess

I have just had my second abscess lanced (I'm 25) - my first one a year ago burst by itself, but I'd had this one for 2 weeks, even after the GP's antibiotics, so I went to A&E. They made me a next day emergency appointment, and lanced it under general anesthetic today. So far it isn't too painful (and the blood test they gave me when I checked into the hospital hurt more than the drip they inserted into my hand!), I was out for the whole thing and they've given me more antibiotics, and some strong painkillers just in case. I'd been nervous about getting it lanced after reading some horror stories, but so far it's definitly worth it - it's just such a relief being able to move, and not have to think about everything in pain consequences! Now I'm just praying it doesn't come back ever, it's been horrible, and I've been off work for a week and a half unable to move, stand-up, walk, sit-down...

I just wanted to say thank you to this site - it's been incredible, just to read other people's experiences, and the advice on here (salt baths, warm baths, lubricant like vaseline to stop it being so sore when you HAVE to move!) has been really REALLY helpful.

My sympathies to anyone else who has one of these nasty NASTY things, and I hope it leaves you soon.
